Street art has always captured my eye because each of them is very interesting to look at. Each of them giving a different meaning in contrast to each other. Hence, the phrase 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' Street art is commonly known in Penang and Ipoh as a way to attract tourists but thanks to Bumblebee Consultancy, they have also spurred the mural trend here in Klang Valley. The art and marketing agencies founded in 2010.
The agency connects artists with sponsors to make street art projects happen. Through the agency, artists have not just left footprints on the streets, but also in schools, campuses and public housing projects. The artists are from all walks of life and are of various disciplines, including hair stylists and graphic designers.
With that being said, the power of street art is strong in the Klang Valley. However, the subject also stirs up concerns because unpermitted graffiti is also commonly seen. In Kuala Lumpur, murals are mostly in a riot of bright colours, in contrast to the more nostalgic depictions in Penang and Ipoh, They are the result of several community art projects initiated by the private sector with approval from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
