Emma Watson Set to Replace Jennifer Lawrence As The World's Highest-Paid Actress

Last year, Jennifer Lawrence was named the highest-paid actress in the world for the second time in a row at the ripe old age of 26. But this year, Emma Watson is set to be the highest-paid actress in the world this year thanks to Beauty and the Beast according to the Evening Standard.

Watson was paid £2 million upfront for her part as Belle, however she is expected to get more than £15 million for the role thanks to a deal that entitles her to a slice of the film's earnings. According to the Evening Standard, the producers are yet to pay $18.9 million to the actress. Currently the highest-grossing live-action musical of all time, Beauty and the Beast is also the first movie in 2017 to make $1 billion.

Due to the ongoing success of her film, people are expecting Emma to take part in a lot more projects this year allowing her to overtake Jennifer's US$46 million earnings last year. However, we might only see her in The Circle, based of Dave Egger's 2013 novel of the same name, which has its world premiere on April 27 as she is going to take a hiatus:

"I'm taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really. My own personal development is one," she said in conversation with feminist writer Bell Hooks in an interview with Paper Magazine last year.
